Meet the Team

Tommy Amal

Tommy Amal is the chief advancement officer at NACAC, where he leads the association's philanthropic strategy, and enterprise development. In this role, he oversees individual and foundation giving, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and the development of sustainable fundraising infrastructure to support NACAC's mission and long-term impact. Tommy works closely with the CEO, board, and leadership team to align revenue strategy with NACAC's vision for access, equity, innovation, and student success.

Since joining NACAC, Tommy helped build and scale the organization's philanthropy and enterprise function, securing significant investments from national foundations and individual donors to support flagship initiatives, including the Center for Innovation in College Admission, professional development programs for admission professionals, and the reimagining of NACAC College Fairs. His work focused on strengthening donor partnerships, modernizing fundraising systems, and positioning NACAC for long-term financial sustainability during a period of change in higher education.

Prior to NACAC, Tommy held leadership roles across nonprofit, higher education, and community-based organizations, with a focus on fundraising, strategic partnerships, program development, and executive leadership. His professional background spans major gifts, grants, board engagement, and cross-sector collaboration, with a consistent emphasis on advancing opportunity and economic mobility for students and families.

Tommy holds a master's degree in agricultural leadership education and is currently pursuing a PhD in educational management with a concentration in higher education. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and serves in a regional leadership role within the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Outside of work, Tommy enjoys powerlifting, boxing, and reformer Pilates. A lifelong sports fan, he is a devoted supporter of the Chicago Bears and Virginia Tech Hokie football and values time with family and friends and community involvement.
