Through this professional certificate program, participants will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to build impactful postsecondary school counseling programs, including support for students in the college search and application processes.

The basics:

  • Intended audience: New and prospective school and college counselors. 
  • Format: Hybrid or on-demand. 
    • This course includes fourteen modules, each consisting of a video presentation and knowledge check. 
  • Cost: $175-$350 for the hybrid version, $125-$300 for the on-demand version.   
    • Cost is dependent on NACAC membership status and course version selected. 
    • A $30 discount is available for offices of four or more participants registering for the same course. 
  • Estimated completion time: 13.5 hours for the hybrid version, 9 hours for the on-demand version. 
    • Participants have six months to access and complete the course in NACAC Learn. 
  • Upon completion: Continuing education credit hours (13.5 for hybrid version, 9 for on-demand version), a completion certificate, and a digital badge. 

Course description: 

Featuring outstanding faculty from a wide variety of public and private institutions, this professional certificate course provides new and prospective college counselors with a comprehensive understanding of the college search and application processes, as well as resources that will set them up for success. Participants will gain a national, regional, and international perspective while learning about best college counseling practices across multiple dimensions.

Registration options:

There are two versions of this course to choose from:

  • Hybrid: On-demand course content + three live sessions (13.5 CE credit hours)
  • On-demand: On-demand course content (9 CE credit hours)
Hybrid: 

This option includes on-demand content that participants will complete in their own time, as well as three live sessions that will take place via Zoom (13.5 hours of content). In the live sessions, participants will discuss key issues and topics, review assignments, and learn within smaller breakout groups. A bonus of the hybrid option is the opportunity to build your professional network. Each hybrid cohort is open to approximately 200 participants worldwide. Participants will get to know the faculty members and their fellow participants and be able to build these connections through strong online community presence.
