What drew you to the world of college admission counseling?
I’ve always loved helping others and knowing that I can make a positive difference in someone’s life. I began my career as an admissions counselor, and it was inspiring to follow students throughout their journey — from inquiry to application to admission. The most rewarding part of this work is knowing that, in some way, I’ve made an impact on someone’s future. Whether it’s introducing a student to opportunities they never knew existed or advocating for an applicant during the admissions process, helping students move one step closer to their goals is incredibly fulfilling. Higher education is inspiring, and the many opportunities for growth and connection continue to excite me every day.

What is your favorite part of the job?
I love that every day brings something new. Before working in admissions, I came from a corporate office environment where my daily routine was very predictable. In this profession, no two days are the same. I have the opportunity to get out of the office, meet new people, and connect with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. The variety keeps the work exciting and meaningful.

What prompted you to join NACAC and what do you hope to get out of your membership?
Leadership has been a driving force in my life for as long as I can remember, and my current role has provided opportunities to continue developing those skills. Joining NACAC is another exciting step in that journey. I’m looking forward to growing professionally, expanding my network, learning from experienced colleagues, and finding new ways to serve students and the profession.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing our profession today?
One of the biggest challenges is the growing perception among some students that higher education is no longer valuable or necessary. I hear this sentiment frequently at college fairs, and it can be discouraging because I truly believe in the transformative power of education. Inspiring students who may be hesitant about continuing their education can be difficult, but it’s a challenge I welcome. Helping students see the possibilities available to them is one of the most important parts of our work.

When you aren’t working, what do you like to do?
Outdoors, outdoors, outdoors! I love hiking, paddleboarding, walking, spending time at the lake, and soaking up the sunshine. My husband and I are also avid adventurers who enjoy exploring new places and trying new experiences. If it involves being outside and enjoying the sun, we’re there!

2) Empathetic
3) Passionate

5) Welcoming
