NACAC joined the American Council on Education and other higher education associations in urging the U.S. Department of Education to withdraw proposed changes to the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR). The coalition raised concerns that the proposal would weaken transparent, merit-based federal grantmaking, create uncertainty for institutions, and introduce new requirements related to admissions and participant selection that may conflict with the purposes of programs established by Congress.
For NACAC members, these changes could have implications for how institutions administer admissions and participant selection within federally funded programs, including programs designed to support college access and student success. NACAC joined the coalition in calling for a fair and predictable federal grantmaking process that allows these programs to continue serving students and institutions as Congress intended.
