Navigating the Future of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Efforts: Emerging Insights from National ConversationsĀ
Thursday Mainstage Event
This session will highlight findings and recommendations from three convenings that collected insights from multiple audiences to inform future considerations and interventions specific to the future of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. In October 2024, National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE), in partnership with AAC&U, held the Amplifying Student Voices convening with over 400 students representing 40 institutions to hear their visions for the future and to understand their viewpoints on how/if our current democracy is attentive to the needs of all individuals and communities. In November 2024, the Restorative Communities of Practice convening offered over 250 senior diversity leaders across higher education the opportunity to gather, reflect, plan, and consider restorative approaches for healing and responding to the dismantling of diversity, equity, and inclusion offices, programs, and practices. In February 2025, the Future Vista Impact Summit convened 85 multi-sector chief executive officers, higher education associations and industry leaders, and chief diversity officers for an intentional dialogue on the centrality of diversity, equity, and inclusion to the future of higher education and the public good. This session will engage participants in discussions of next steps and the development of partnerships across higher education and within our communities to advance the mission, vision, and values of postsecondary education.
