Now is your time. NACAC needs leaders like you.
A number of years ago, I had the opportunity to fill a vacated role on a committee when a member left the profession before his term had expired. Little did I know that opportunity would be the impetus that would lead me down the path to the NACAC presidency! It is now your turn to take action, and I can’t imagine a more important time to make your voice heard as we tackle issues of national importance.
If you have been searching for an outlet to express your professional opinion beyond the scope of your position, this is it. If you are looking for a way to shape the organization’s future direction, this is your opportunity. If you want to see NACAC leverage member influence over important areas of the national dialogue, this is the time to get involved.
NACAC members who serve on national committees give their time and talents while enjoying the professional and personal rewards of a dynamic leadership opportunity. Committee members have the opportunity to discover, research, and take action on important issues impacting our profession, while holding true to our ethics. Additionally, committee members work with NACAC staff at determining where programs and policies can be created or further expanded to meet NACAC’s strategic principles.
Committee members come from high schools, community colleges, universities, community-based organizations, and many other segments of our membership. The one common trait all committee members have is passion to impact change while possessing the energy, ideas, and leadership abilities to ensure that our association remains vibrant and relevant.
I challenge each of you to consider NACAC committee service right away and know that you will find the experience fulfilling, educational and personally rewarding.
Make an informed decision and take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the process and role of each national committee. Please review the complete Committee Service Guidelines found on the Committee page of the NACAC website for information regarding the expectations, eligibility, volunteer forms, and appointment process for committee members.
The deadline for submitting volunteer forms, recommendations, and supporting documents is Feb. 1. If you are interested in applying for committee service work, visit the Committee page of the NACAC website to access the Committee Service Guidelines and Volunteer Form.
Please note that volunteering for committee service is a separate and distinct process from running for election to the Board of Directors.
- Committee appointments are made by the NACAC President, President-elect and Past President, and approved by the Board of Directors.
- The slate of nominees for the NACAC Board of Directors is selected from among the applicants by the Governance and Nominating Committee which will announce the “Call for Candidates” in January for submission by March 1.
Qualified members may apply for both committee service and the Board of Directors during the same application cycle.
