A Message About the Coronavirus and Upcoming NACAC Conferences

All of us at NACAC greatly appreciate your patience, support, and understanding as we consider the impact of the coronavirus on our programming and this rapidly changing environment. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and will keep you apprised of any changes to our plans.

At this time, we continue to plan for the Guiding the Way to Inclusion (GWI) conference as scheduled for July 26-29 in Las Vegas and the 2020 NACAC National Conference as scheduled for September 24-26 in Minneapolis. Registration for both events are now open.

Looking Ahead to Summer and Fall

We realize that with all of the uncertainties, there are concerns about travel reservations and registration fees for events scheduled for summer and fall. Many institutions are facing budget reductions and it is not clear that funding requests for professional development events and travel will be authorized this year as they may have been in the past.

Both GWI and the national conference are vital to NACAC's mission to serve students, parents, and the admission profession. We know they are also valued by you. We are hopeful that the pandemic restrictions will be lifted by mid-summer, allowing us to gather for these professional development experiences that challenge and enrich us to best serve our organizations, students, and families. 

Ongoing Health and Safety Measures

It’s important for our community to meet and connect. Our top priority, though, is always the health, safety, and well-being of the NACAC community. And so, as we move forward, we are putting into motion initiatives that address today’s new reality:

  • We have contacted the conference facilities and have reserved extra physical space in order to accommodate social distancing.
  • Both conferences will have a built-in virtual option for those unable to attend in person. If either or both conferences cannot be held in person, we will have taken the necessary steps to transition to an all-digital conference.
  • We will continue developing precautionary measures such as increased sanitization practices at all venues in order to reduce any health risks during these events.

Flexible Cancellation Policies

Please know that we understand the uncertainty you are facing and have therefore extended our GWI and national conference cancellation refund policies. Registrants will have until six weeks prior to each conference to cancel for any reason and receive a full refund, less a $50 processing fee. We hope this added flexibility will give you assurance in registering for these conferences.
