Arlington, VA (May 5, 2021) – The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) today announced that all college fairs in Fall 2021 will be presented online.
Shantel Goodman-Luckett, chief experience officer for NACAC, noted that the decision was made due to lingering uncertainty regarding safeguarding the health and safety of young people at large, indoor gatherings this fall. The association will instead host eight virtual college fairs.
“After intense deliberations and weighing the uncertainties and potential risks, NACAC has made the difficult decision to postpone in-person fairs until Spring 2022,” said Goodman-Luckett. “The health and safety of our exhibitors, students, families, counselors, volunteers, and staff are of paramount importance, and we believe this is the best possible decision under the current circumstances.”
National College Fairs are a signature program of NACAC, with a distinguished 49-year history of hosting approximiately 100 in-person college fairs per year in cities across the US. A reinvigorated and reimagined college fairs program is planned for an early 2022 launch.
Since the pandemic, the association has pivoted to hosting one-day virtual fairs as part of the NACAC Virtual College Fairs program. The virtual fairs connect high school students with colleges and universities through a dynamic digital meeting space at virtualcollegefairs.org. Approximately 90,000 unique students and family members registered to attend NACAC virtual fairs in each of the past two semesters.
NACAC Virtual College Fairs offer a seamless college search experience. On each fair date, students log in to watch presentations from more than 600 colleges and universities, ask questions of college admission officers, participate in workshops, and demonstrate interest... all without leaving home.
Colleges and universities may register now to exhibit at the Fall 2021 season of NACAC Virtual College Fairs. Student registration will open in June.
