A NACAC Report on College and University Plans for the Upcoming College Application Season

 

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) surveyed its membership in May 2021 to find out what decisions colleges and universities have made regarding the upcoming college application season.

More than 450 institutions responded to questions about plans for Fall 2021 in-person classes, vaccination requirements, and admission criteria for the class of 2022, including testing requirements. 

Key findings include:

  • 78 percent plan to resume all in-person classes in Fall 2021
  • 84 percent will be either test-optional or test-blind for the Fall 2022 admission cycle
  • 12 percent will require a COVID vaccine to return to in-person programs; 55 percent remain undecided
