Director of Admissions
Hiram College (OH)
What drew you to the world of college admission?
I initially fell into admission at the urging of a former faculty member. I was working in radio and received a call. I thought I would do it for a few years then see what else life had in store. I fell in love with it, and here I am… a proud lifer.
What is your favorite part of the job?
Working with students and families, helping them find the “right college match,” watching the students develop over four years, then finally cheering them on as they walk the stage at graduation.
How has NACAC played a role in your career?
NACAC has afforded me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people with like motivations. I’ve met lifelong friends and mentors who have helped me learn to appreciate the triumphs and challenges of our noble profession.
When you aren’t working, what do you like to do?
Spend time with my family. I have three sons and a wife of 23 years (my best friend), and we are usually at some sort of sporting event.
If you could be any fictional character, who would it be and why?
I would say Professor Hulk. He is the perfect mix of superior brain and almost limitless brawn.
Describe yourself in five words.
Adaptable, amiable, empathetic, reliable, and resilient (I am a Cleveland Browns fan after all).
