What drew you to the world of college counseling?
I was a high school counselor for 20 years. I decided to leave the public school setting to create an independent business devoted solely to helping students discover their career and college goals. I have always loved interacting with students and helping them to find their best college fit and ideal major/career.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is hearing from parents and former students who tell me how much my advice has helped them and how happy they are on their chosen paths.
How has NACAC played a role in your career?
My membership in NACAC has played a role in my career because NACAC helps me stay current with professional development offerings and emails with the latest news and information pertaining to the field. The vast network of professionals through the listserv has also helped me consult regarding specific, new, or unfamiliar situations I encounter within my private practice.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing our profession today?
Helping students find solutions for affording a college education.
When you aren’t working, what do you like to do?
I love to read, travel, cook, bake, and spend time with my husband and our five-year-old border terrier, Mimi.
