Report of the 2017 Assembly

The NACAC Assembly of delegates, representing all 23 NACAC affiliates met on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Boston, MA.  

The 2017 Assembly elected four new members to the NACAC Board of Directors and heard from the new Coordinator of the Affiliate Presidents Council and the new Appointed Board Director.

Statement of Principles of Good Practice:

The 2017 Assembly adopted the new SPGP: NACAC’s Code of Ethics and Professional Practices. The Board has agreed to a moratorium on the enforcement of principles that are new to the SPGP. Members are expected to remain compliant with the principles that are found in both the former and the new document.  

Under New Business, the 2017 Assembly Approved the Following Motions:

Recommendation to the Board of Directors-Limiting the number of students colleges will accept under restrictive early plans:

  • To review and consider offering recommendations to institutions of higher education that they evaluate their admission plans as to whether and how they serve the best interests of students, including consideration of limiting the number of spaces in the entering class allocated to restrictive admission plans.


Recommendation to the Board of Directors-Creating an ad hoc committee to help develop effective transcripts and profiles

  • To consider establishing an ad hoc committee to examine and discuss the characteristics and features of what would be considered meaningful and effective transcripts and school profiles. The committee would be asked to report back to the NACAC Board and membership, and collect sample transcripts and school profiles to post in the Knowledge Center along with guidelines about how to develop these.
