Report of the 2017 Annual Membership Meeting

At the Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Boston, MA, NACAC voting members met and took the following action:

The Annual Membership Meeting agenda included: 

  • Approval of a motion recommending re-establishing the ad hoc committee for catastrophic events to update the emergency planning documents for secondary and post-secondary institutions as well as displaced students.  The motion also requested that NACAC provide suggested protocol and support for affiliates to follow during these events and a staff liaison to contact for support.

  • Recognition of the winners of the 2017 NACAC Video Scholarship Contest  

  • Report from CEO Joyce Smith

  • A report of the 2017 Assembly from President-elect David Burge

  • A year-to-date financial report and the results of the audit for fiscal year 2016 showing a small increase in net assets of $38,639

  • Overview of the proposed 2018 Budget which may continue to be adjusted as 2017 information is received until final approval by Board of Directors

  • Recognition of award winners: Muir Editorial Award, Government Relations Award, Inclusion, Access and Success Award, and Rising Star Awards

  • Recognition of the 2017 Local Advisory Committee for their work on the National Conference in Boston, MA

  • Remarks from new President David Burge

  • Recognition of the service of outgoing board members: Phil Trout, Amy Jarich, Gwen E. Kanelos, Tara Lebar, Kent Rinehart, Doug Shapiro and Zakiya Smith
