Call for Candidates

A message from Jayne Caflin Fonash

The Governance and Nominating Committee (GNC) is beginning the process of identifying highly qualified candidates for the 2022 NACAC Board of Directors election. This is a task that committee members take very seriously, and it calls for dedicated attention from NACAC members, the committee, and NACAC staff. The GNC is committed to creating a strong and diverse pool of member leaders to ensure that the slate of candidates includes nominees with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

This year there are four board positions to be filled: three board directors and the chair-elect. All of those elected will serve through the 2025 National Conference. The chair-elect will serve first in that role in 2022-2023, as chair in 2023-2024, and as past chair in 2024-2025. The following year, that individual will chair the Governance and Nominating Committee.

Individuals interested in being considered as a candidate for the 2022 NACAC Board of Directors election must meet qualifications described in the Call for Candidates. All applicants must complete a biographical information form, as well as provide references and a letter of support from their current institution. The full application, biographical information, institutional support form, and candidate reference forms must be submitted by Feb. 28, 2022. All forms and procedures are outlined on the NACAC website. The Governance and Nominating Committee will review all the applications and select the slate of nominees at its committee meeting in March.

Service on the NACAC Board of Directors provides opportunities for unparalleled personal and professional growth, in addition to the chance to provide direction to the profession and our association. Many former board members describe their service as a professional highlight. I urge you to seriously consider the contributions that you might make as a member of our board.

If you are unsure whether you would like to apply for board service, the Governance and Nominating Committee will offer a webinar titled: Serving on the NACAC Board of Directors on Wednesay, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. ET.  Please register for the webinar and join members of the committee for a discussion on the role of the NACAC Board of Directors and to learn more about why you should consider applying for board service.  The webinar will focus on the work of the board, the roles/responsibilities of board members, and provide a more detailed explanation of the process for submitting your name for candidacy.

If you would like to recommend a member for board service or would like to discuss your interest in serving on the board please feel free to contact me or any member of the Governance and Nominating Committee at
