What is the MemberToMember Community?
NACAC’s MemberToMember Community is a closed, professional, safe and trusted space where NACAC members can pose questions and get answers from their colleagues.  The MemberToMember Community allows NACAC Members to:

  • Connect with your colleagues from the comfort of your home, office or mobile device
  • Participate in professional discussions and join targeted groups
  • Email colleagues directly through the directory
  • Blog
  • Network
  • and much more!

How can I subscribe?

Complete information is available online.

How will I learn how to use MemberToMember?
Some will find the community intuitive to use.  Complete information is available online.

Can I get daily messages like I do on the E-list?
Once you subscribe, you will be able to join the discussions and groups that interest you. You can still receive email from the discussions and groups as messages are posted or you may elect to receive the communication in a digest format. Set up your email preferences.

How will I be able to get email messages without having to actively search somewhere?
When Members subscribe they will be able to elect to receive emails of new postings based on preference.   Emails can be received immediately, daily or through a weekly digest.
In addition members can:
• Read content while logged into the MemberToMember Community
• Subscribe to RSS feeds  in a reader
Set up your email preferences.

Will I have to log in to the Community anytime I want to see what discussions are going on? I really like the way the current E-list is delivered right to my desk and I can answer via email.
Once subscribed, you can choose your settings for receiving notification (immediate, daily or weekly digest) emails on topics that interest you, you will receive emails and be able to reply to postings via email. However, you may be curious to sign in more often to connect with more “Colleagues”, send private email messages, or browse the directory or read “Colleague” blog postings.

Will I really have access to 11,000+ of my colleagues?
While you will have the ability to reach out to potentially 11,000+ of your colleagues who may subscribe to the MemberToMember Community, you  will be able to create your own network to connect  with specific members you choose who are also members of the community.   For example, you might choose to connect with a previous co-worker, a former mentor, an attendee you met at a conference years ago, a contact from the E-list, etc. You will be able to search for subscribed colleagues and extend an invitation to them to become connected to your network.

I'm leery. I've avoided social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn! Why not keep the E-list and have Facebook  opportunities for those who want it?
In one word, security. For years, NACAC members who belong to the E-list have said they have been cautious  about posting certain questions because it was an open public list that anyone can join including the media, students, and parents. MemberToMember is a secure professional network where NACAC members will be able to freely ask questions without being monitored like the E-list currently is. MemberToMember will bring networking to a new level.

I like the E-list because of the ability to communicate  with other professionals.  How will I be able to use MemberToMember in this way?
Not only will you be able to meet new colleagues, you will even have the chance to put a face with a name with the option of uploading a photo to your profile. You will have the ability to search for “Colleagues” and send them invitations to connect to you.  MemberToMember also will make suggestions for “Colleagues” based on your connections to other colleagues.

Social networking sites are blocked by my school or district. How will I be able to access the MemberToMember Community?
If you are able to access the NACAC Web site, you should not have a problem accessing the MemberToMember Community.

What will happen to the E-list? Will I still be able to search the archives?
You will have to be subscribed to the MemberToMember Community and/or the public discussion board to remain part of the NACAC community. The E-list archives will still be available for searching purposes. Complete information on how to search the E-list archives will be provided in early 2010.
