Five Easy Steps for Accessing the MemberToMember Community 

Once you have read over the user subscriber agreement, you are ready to access the MemberToMember community. 

 

 

 



Step 1:
       Access MemberToMember Community


Go to
http://community.nacacnet.org and log in with your NACAC username and password.  If you have already logged into the NACAC website, you’ll be taken directly to the community main page.

If you don’t know your username and password,
retrieve it and then follow the step above.

Step 2:
   Create Your Profile


REQUIRED

From the MemberToMember home page:

 ·         Click on My Profile (under the My Network section on the left-hand side of the screen )

·         On the My Profile page, click Edit Your Profile.  Fields with a red asterisk (*) are required and must be populated to continue.  The Display name field will automatically populate with your name as it appears in our database. You may update your Display name as needed. This is how your name will be displayed to the community.  

·         When you are done creating your profile, you must press the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to continue.


OPTIONAL PROFILE CONTENT


Add as little or as much Personal Information (Company, Photo, Location and About me) to your profile as you are comfortable with. If you wish to add content to the Employment and Education sections, type your text in the small text box underneath the large text box and press the icon to the right to post the information. In the My Interests section you have the option of checking off areas that interest you.

When you are done creating your profile, you must press the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to continue.

Step 3: Receiving Email Communication from the Community

a) Under the My Network section on the left-hand side of the MemberToMember pages:

1. Click on My Mailing Lists under My Alerts.
2. Chose delivery options (immediate, daily, weekly or none)
3. NOTE: This step MUST be repeated for each GROUP(s) you JOIN in order to receive email from the Group(s).
4. Scroll down the page and press the “OK” Button

b) Subscribe via RSS Feed – Really Simple Syndication (RSS)  is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content. RSS Feeds benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored Web sites. Click on the RSS icon to subscribe to the discussion in your favorite RSS reader. Learn more about feeds.



c) Log in to the MemberToMember community as often as you would like to see what is going on in the community

Step 4: Join the Discussion

From Inside The Community
Click on “Discussions” in the blue navigation bar

  • In the upper right hand corner where is says “Start a Discussion,” type the title of your discussion in the text box provided and then click “Create.” You will be taken to another screen where you can type your message. When you are done creating your message, hit “Save” to post your message. It will post and members will be able to respond. Please note that it may take a few seconds for your message to post. Pressing “Send” over and over again will result in duplicate postings.
  • To respond to a posting, click on the posting and scroll down to the bottom of the posting  to “Leave a Comment.” Type in your comment. Press “Submit Comment”  to post.

From Email
If you have subscribed to the discussion with email updates (see above how to set this preference), you can post a message to the discussion board by sending an email to community@nacacnet.org.

Step 5:  Join a Group (optional)

Groups form when community members want to discuss specific topics further with colleagues who share a common interest. To see what groups have formed, click on Groups in the main Navigation bar.  Click on the hyperlink for the group you wish to join. Click the Join This Group button. Communication preferences can be set the exact same way as described above in Step 3.
