The mission of the Journal of College Admission is to support and advance the work of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and college admission counseling professionals by providing members with lively, challenging discourse on issues relevant to the admission counseling field.
Call for Articles for Winter 2011
The Journal of College Admission calls for articles for their upcoming special issue focusing on the ethics surrounding the commercialization and marketing of admission. The committee seeks articles on the following topics:
- Editorial/historical perspective
- Commodification of the college applicant
Impact of current economic conditions (commercialization of higher education, need to articulate value better/differentiate your school, etc.)
- Direct marketing: Does it work and how does it affect the process (healthy or unhealthy)? Misrepresentation of marketing messages
- Technology angle (keeping up with current technology, video applications, etc.)
- Problems with incentives
- Other ethical challenges that result from the commercialization of the proces
All submissions are due to Journal editor by October 4, 2010 and are subject to evaluation by the Editorial Committee. Accepted articles will be published in the Winter 2011 edition.
