Eleventh and 12th grade students attending high schools in Austin, TX were invited to enter a college-planning related essay contest sponsored by NACAC.
Students were required to submit an essay of 500-1,000 words describing a teacher, counselor or experience that had influenced their decision to go to college. Students also had to include how a college education will help them make a difference in their community.
A panel of NACAC members judged the essays based on originality, creativity, focus, clarity, and structure. Students from a broad range of backgrounds and academic preparation were encouraged to apply.
Award recipients will be recognized at NACAC’s 63rd National Conference in Austin.
