Marc Harding
Marc came to Ames (IA) in July 1997 to take the position of Director of Admissions at Iowa State University. He currently serves as Director of Enrollment Services and oversees the Office of Admissions, New Student Programs, Educational Talent Search/Upward Bound, and Precollegiate Programs.
He received an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership Policy Studies with a specialization in community colleges from Iowa State University and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in Educational Leadership at Iowa State. He has 21 years of admissions experience and has worked previously at the University of South Florida, Virginia Tech, and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Marc is nationally recognized for his expertise in a number of areas and is regularly invited to present at national conferences including: the American Marketing Association, NACAC, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, the College Board and the ACT Enrollment Planners Conference. His presentations cover a variety of topics including the use of student volunteers in admissions, multicultural student recruitment, the recruitment of high ability students, transfer students, training and development, telecounseling, and the use of technology in recruitment and Admissions.
Stephanie Salasek
Stephanie came back to Iowa State in 1999 after careers in public teaching, corporate training and health care customer relations.
She currently serves as a Senior Associate Director of Admissions with responsibilities for the campus visit program, outreach initiatives, and training and development.
Stephanie completed her M.S. at Iowa State in Educational Leadership Policy Studies with an emphasis on humor and its role with first year students and their families. Emotional intelligence is a focus of attention for Stephanie as she provides keynotes, training workshops, and coaching sessions for public and private organizations.
Faculty:
Omar Correa
Omar is currently the Vice President for Enrollment for The Concordia College (MN ) after 10 years of service in higher education. In his role he oversees admissions, financial aid, retention and outreach.
Omar received a B.S. in Chemistry from Iowa State University and is finalizing his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration with an emphasis in Enrollment Management from Capella University. Besides his current work at The Concordia College, Omar has also worked at Iowa State University and more recently at Clarke College.
He has been an active member of associations such as NACAC, MACAC, IACAC, NAFSA, AACRAO, and CCA. He has also presented on topics such as international, minority and Caribbean recruitment, technology in admission, retention and staff development.
Marybeth Kelly
Marybeth has worked in higher education administration for more than 19 years. After a long career serving The College of Saint Rose (NY) as the Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Admission, she recently joined the National Research Center for College and University Admissions's (NRCCUA) Member Services Team where she serves as Assistant Vice President.
The majority of Marybeth’s career has been working at colleges and universities and in undergraduate admission, scholarships, athletics and financial aid; however, she also has had the opportunity to work on the student affairs and student services side of university administration. She has worked at a variety of colleges in the Northeast: small and medium private institutions, as well as medium and large Ivy League institutions.
She has presented on both the state and national levels over the past decade on topics including training, professional ethics, issues facing higher education, campus visits and careers in admission, among other topics.
She has served both the New York State and NACAC organizations by being a national delegate representing NYS, as a co-chair for professional development, serving on the hospitality committee for national and state conferences and serving on numerous state conference planning committees. She also holds a NACAC Advanced Professional Recognition Opportunities Program Advanced Certificate.
Steven Pultz
Since 1999, Steve has served as Director of Admissions at the University of San Diego (CA), overseeing undergraduate and graduate admissions. Responsibilities also include serving as chair of the Enrollment Management Committee, and member of the President’s Advisory Board on Inclusion and Diversity.
Prior to joining USD, Steve worked for 13 years at American University (DC) as a counselor, Assistant Director, Associate Director, and Director of Admissions. Steve began his admissions career at Fordham University (NY).
He received his Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University (NY) and Master’s degree from Teachers College (NY). He has presented on admissions and enrollment topics at NACAC, College Board, AACRAO and NAGAP.
