Members of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC) are advocating for dual enrollment and college affordability for the 2009-2010 Pennsylvania budget. The PACAC membership was encouraged to visit the NACAC Legislative Action Center and take action by encouraging senators and representatives to support dual enrollment by sustaining funding and support an increase in grant funding to increase college access in Pennsylvania. Ian Harkness, senior assistant director at Gettysburg College and PACAC Government Relations Committee chair, led the advocacy effort.
Though the General Assembly was scheduled to pass the budget on July 1, the vote has not occurred, enabling PACAC members to continue contacting their legislators. So far, 36 members have sent 72 messages to Harrisburg. The Pennsylvania dual enrollment and college affordability Action Alert can be found in NACAC's Legislative Action Center.
