Educational Sessions 

The heart and soul of the national conference, more than 100 educational sessions in seven topic areas offer plenty of choices to gain knowledge in areas that have direct impact on your job. Learn alongside colleagues dedicated to advancing the profession, hear from leaders in the field and share your experiences in these sessions. 

Sessions are categorized by the professional area to which they are most applicable. Some sessions also fall under secondary or tertiary professional areas and are noted as such. The professional areas are:

Provides a forum where members come to understand what is required of them and/or their students for entry into postsecondary educational institutions, and research/debate the requirements/policies/procedures

National Issues and External Influences in Admission


 

Focuses on factors not directly controlled by schools or colleges such as college rankings, admission-related services, test preparation, state/federal regulation, and other environmental issues

Networking

 

Provides information about building professional relationships and the value of networking with NACAC colleagues and within your own institution

Postsecondary Admission Issues

 

Provides information about the profession of college admission, best practices, ROI (evaluation of practices), and other practice-related information specific and relevant to the operation of the admission office

Postsecondary Admission Issues and Secondary Counseling Issues


 

Includes information equally relevant to both sides of the desk

Secondary Counseling Issues

 

 

Provides information about the profession of college counseling, best practices, ROI (evaluation of practices), and other practice-related information specific and relevant to secondary counseling. Topics for independent counselors, community colleges, transfers, overseas counselors, and community-based organizations (CBOs) are also included

Student Issues

 

 

Includes demographics, population trends, improving college access among various segments of the population, student behavior/preferences, and other student-related information

Circumstances beyond NACAC’s control—weather, transportation difficulties, last-minute speaker cancelations, or other unforeseen occurrences—may necessitate changes in scheduling or cancelation of a particular scheduled event or speaker.
