October 7, 2008 (Arlington, VA) – James W. Jump, academic dean and director of guidance at Saint Christopher’s School (VA), was voted president-elect of the Board of Directors of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) at its 64th National Conference in Seattle, WA.
Jump will serve a three-year term, leading the organization of more than 11,000 members committed to the student transition from high school to college.
Jump has been a NACAC member since 1990, eventually becoming chair of the Membership Advisory Committee (1994-1995) and appointed to the State and Regional Presidents’ Council (1999-2002, 2004-2005). He joined the Potomac & Chesapeake ACAC, going on to serve as a NACAC Assembly Delegate and PCACAC president. In 2004 he received the Richard L. Apperson Award, PCACAC’s highest honor.
NACAC also elected three new members to its Board of Directors. They include:
Nancy Beane, college counselor, the Westminster Schools (GA); Lynn Slaughter, director of college counseling, the Emery/Weiner School (TX); and Kris Getting Roach, director of admissions and financial aid, University of St. Thomas (MN).
NACAC also appointed two members for the first time. They include:
Michael Goldberger, athletic director, Brown University (RI); and Patricia McDonough, a professor in the Education Department at UCLA.
